Nokia X Series launched, runs on Forked Version of Android
Nokia unveiled its most talked about mobiles called Nokia X, a series which will be running on the Google Android. The new family of Nokia X series currently have 3 phones namely Nokia X, X+ and XL. The phones support dual sim, but these phones are not pure Android phones, instead these run a forked variant of Android, where Nokia has mashed the open-source elements of Android and that of Asha and Windows Phone to offer users a different experience. The new platform is based on the Android Open Source project (AOSP).
However, the phone will run Android apps but on a disappointing note, the Nokia X users won't have the access to the Google Play Store for the apps. It will have its Nokia store to serve the apps.
Nokia X phone will emphasize Microsoft services such as Bing search, Skype communications and OneDrive file storage instead of what Google provide. The home screen sports a larger, resizable tiles like the windows phone. The three phones, Nokia X, Nokia X+ and Nokia XL form a new family of Nokia's affordable smartphones under the forked Android version. The Nokia X is an entry level phone which will 7,500Rs and will be available immediately in select markets. The Nokia X+, would be around 8,500 Rs and offers more memory and storage and will be available in early Q2 2014. The last phone, the Nokia XL packs a 5-inch screen, 5 megapixel rear-facing and 2 megapixel front-facing camera will be around 9,500Rs and will be available in early Q2 2014.
The Nokia X family boasts Nokia's exciting, high quality hardware design and a range of bright colours. The brand new, tile-based Home screen offers you a simple, elegant way to manage your apps and phone functions and also reintroduces a redesigned version of the enormously popular Fastlane notifications centre - a second Home screen if you like - from the latest Asha devices.

Nokia has included the Here Maps with turn-by-turn navigation and offline maps with free cloud storage from Microsoft OneDrive with 7GB of space for free is included out of the box. There's also access to Outlook.com as your email service. And there's Skype with a month's free calls to international landlines in selected markets.
All the three new X series devices are powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-core processor. BBM makes its entry too in Nokia but not on windows, but on Nokia X. Other pre-installed apps are Plants vs Zombies 2, Viber, Vine and Twitter. At launch, leading global apps will be available for the Nokia X family of devices, including Facebook, LINE Free Voice and Messages, LINE Camera, LINE Bubble, Picsart, Plants vs Zombies 2, Real Football 2014, Skype, Spotify, Swiftkey, Twitter, Viber, Vine and WeChat etc.
