Apple to re-launch iPhone 4 in India at 15K, Is it Worth it?
Well, easier said than done, this could be a nice move from Apple to re-launch the cheapest ever iPhone in Indian market. According to The Economic Times, Apple is expected to re-release the 8GB model of iPhone 4. The move came after Apple started loosing their sales when they pulled off the iPhone 4 from the market. iPhone 5C didn't come at cheap price as expected and fell flat in Indian market. Moreover, with other iPhones being too costly, iPhone 4 was the only contender in mid range smartphone market which is now dominated by Samsung, Micromax and Nokia’s Lumia series lately.
16GB version of iPhone 4 was earlier retailing at around 26,000 while the 8GB was priced at 22,500, but now to get into lower smartphone segment, this move could be very well timed, but before buying an iPhone, we would like you to consider following points.
Apple will price its iPhone 4 at 15,000 for 8GB version, which as we all know is not expandable, so you might get an iPhone, but you will have to compromise on many fronts such as videos storage, songs and apps. Morevover, iOS7 doesn't run smoothly even on iPhone 4S, and iPhone 4 has absolutely no fun while using iOS7. So you would want to continue using iOS 6 for better performance.
Apple iPhone 4 comes with a 5mp camera, which is far behind the 6.3 and 8 mp cameras coming in other phones at this range. Nokia Lumia, Micromax Canvas and Samsung Galaxy series, all have great specs and are far ahead than iPhone 4, moveover, iPhone 4 was launched 4 years ago is now 5 generations old (iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4), whereas you can get the latest phones with much better configuration at same or even lesser price.
Other Smartphones to consider in this range are:
Nokia Lumia 620, Nokia Lumia 625, Nokia Lumia 720, Micromax Canvas 4, Sony Xperia L, Samsung Galaxy Grand, Galaxy Quttro.
Though, some might argue on the fact that Apple is a status symbol, but on configurations front, iPhone 4 is far behind the above phones and with no option of SD card, it is a dud.
It will available at 15,000 through buy back schemes and EMI options and is is expected to go on sales early next week.
