BlackBerry 10 ready for January 2013 Release.

RIM’s latest announcement of BlackBerry 10 release in January 2013 has sent its stock prices up by 5%. According to RIM CEO Thorsten Heins, this is the most important launch ever for BlackBerry as he gave a preview of the smartphone and its features to its developers at a gathering on Tuesday in  San Jose.

Though RIM has lost bulk of its market to Apple inc. and Samsung mobiles in last few years yet BlackBerry's subscriber base had risen to 80 million in the quarter ended in September from the 78 million it reported earlier this year, Heins said.

RIM's stock is hovering around 9-year lows in Stock Exchange. In 2008, RIM stock peaked at around $140 a share. On Tuesday, the company's Nasdaq-listed shares closed 5 per cent higher at $6.60. This is due to the addition of subscribers which surprised many on Wall Street and sparked a bounce in the company's share price. Most analysts had expected RIM to begin losing subscribers in the recently ended quarter, for the first time in its history.

In Tuesdays conference for mobile applications developers to rally support for the upcoming release of BlackBerry 10, which RIM is putting its money on after years of blundering in Smart Phone market, Heins said “We recognize the need for change, there is a new energy and a lot of fighting spirit at RIM.”.
The gathering in California served as the equivalent of a revival meeting for RIM as the company has been laying off thousands of workers to offset growing losses after being outmaneuvered by Apple’s iPhone and Android based smart phones.

Heins and other top RIM executives also provided the glimpse at some of BlackBerry 10′s new features.

Security is the one feature which is still keeping its user base active and surprisingly growing. With about 80 million subscribers, corporate customers admire RIM device’s security and compatibility with their email systems. Continuing its reign in security area and to cater to its main customer base of business users, RIM CEO also said that BlackBerry 10 will offer more security features, better calendar management features and more tools to connect with other workers.

“We are committed to making BlackBerry 10 an inflection point in mobile computing,” Heins said.
BlackBerry 10 has been designed to make it easier to find and use multiple applications simultaneously by swiping a finger across the phone’s display screen instead of having to press on a home button to navigate through a menu of programs, like the iPhone or Android devices requires. Moreover, all the notifications from various applications are supposed to be sent a central point which will be known as the BlackBerry Hub.

BlackBerry 10 will have 2 sets of menus which a user can configure. They can toggle the menus with a touch of an icon to use their personal stuff and official one.
“With BlackBerry 10, We are convinced this platform will shape the next 10 years as profoundly and as positively as BlackBerry shaped the last decade,” Heins said.
