Finally, the most awaited gadget of the year has arrived. Welcome iPhone 5

Well, If you don't have an Iphone, you don't have to spend $200 every year for a new one.  iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s were twins with addons, and iPhone 5 is a taller, thinner sibling of iphone 4 and 4S. Reviewers are putting it rightly by saying that it is sexy but not revolutionary. Now what iPhone 3 brought to the smartphone market has never been repeated by iPhones again. Yes, iPhone 4 was a great phone so was 4S, but apple has never ever done something that has revolutionized the smartphone market. Bringing a revolutions doesn't means a bigger screen or an app, it's something that brings the changee to the market. Thats what iPhone did when it was first launched.

As the iPhone 5 carries a new A6 chip processor which is faster and better in every metric according to Apple. A6 chip boasts 2 times faster graphics and 2 times faster CPU. As the iPhone 4S and iOS already runs pretty smoothly for games with high end graphics, this will be interesting to see how it betters the performance.

Wi-Fi in iPhone 5 support 2.4GHz and 5GHz supporting 802.11 a/b/g/n upto 150Mbps.

iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4S are considered to have one of the best smartphone cameras in the market. The iPhone 5 has same 8 mp camera but confirms to up the camera game by offering a sapphire crystal for better shutter speed, better sensor, better low light performance and coupled with the more powerful A6 processor. It will provide faster shooting and image processing overall. It also supports a panorama mode with 28 mp shot.

Front Camera i.e. FaceTime is now HD. It clicks at 1.2 mp and shoots HD at 720. A good change.

With iPhone 5, Apple has announced its new Lightning connector to replace its old 30-pin connector.

It also supports Wideband audio, also known as HD Voice. NFC is still missing.

Whats noticeable is the iPhone 5 has the same width as 4S and 4, that means it will still fit in the hand nicely just as its predecessors.

It has an aluminium backplate which is textured to feel very different from previous iPhones. We have to agree that iPhone 5 brings a visual brilliance to smart phone market. Its available in 2 colors, Black with Slate sides and White with Silver sides.

Conclusion: The biggest limitation that Apple had was, how many times can one reinvent the wheel, given all the hype around the iPhone 5, it's very difficult for Apple and almost inevitable to roll out the revolutionary changes every year, but Apple is master (Steve Jobs was the true master though) when it comes to floor and give its fans enough to justify an upgrade, which was obvious after 4S was rolled out with same hardware. No doubt that iPhone 5 is going to sell like hot-cakes but it is definitly not a nemesis for its competitors. Not having NFC is a real miss from Apple, as it would have taken it one step closer to its rivals Android and Windows Phones. But all in all, apple has done well and will keep its fans happy for another year.

It will be open for pre-booking on 14 September. It is not yet available in India.
