Nokia Announces Lumia 2520, an Ultra Mobile Window RT Tablet

Nokia has entered into the tablet arena with its first tablet "Lumia 2520". As you might expect, this is the first -- and possibly the last -- attempt by Nokia to craft a Windows RT slate. It's packing LTE, and a 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 CPU inside, with a bright screen made out of Gorilla Glass 2. Nokia showed off a video demonstrating its outdoor readability in sunny Abu Dhabi, bright enough to check out Flipboard on Windows RT.

Priced at $499, Lumia 2520, a slate that takes its design from its popular phones, looks particularly like the new 6-inch Lumia 1520, but it's in line with most of Nokia's smartphones over the last couple of years, featuring sleek lines, a unibody design, and an intense color palette including options for cyan, red, white, and black.

It has a great-looking 10-inch, 1920 x 1080 display, with strong viewing angles and beautiful colors. It has got 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 processor and seemed to run Windows RT 8.1 quite well. It comes with 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and a card slot for adding up to 32GB more.

Nokia Lumia 2520 offers built-in LTE connectivity and the screen is said to be highly readable outdoors, with high brightness and low reflectiveness. Lumia 2520 lets you take pictures on the go, find maps and directions, and even do some work with the built-in Office RT suite.

The Nokia Lumia 2520 will work with a $149 Surface-style attachment called the Power Keyboard. It has got a 6.7MP camera with a f/1.9 Zeiss lens on the back, and the front-facing camera is 2MP. The Lumia 2520 will use the same Nokia Camera app that was just introduced with the Lumia 1520. Nokia's new Storyteller app plots your photos on a map, showing where you were when you took pictures and grouping them accordingly it's another great reason to have always-on connectivity on your device.

Now, given that Microsoft is acquiring Nokia, we wonder why this was even launched, as it matches the new Surface 2 spec for spec. Nokia has clearly told that the 2520 is designed explicitly to be mobile-first device, while the Surface is more about replacing your laptop.

Finally, it is hard to say whether Lumia 2520 takes Nokia to right way but 2520 definitely takes Nokia's remarkable hardware further
