Nokia Lumia 520 Packs a Punch
Nokia Lumia series which boasts with 2 high end smart phones, Lumia 920 & Lumia 820 have landed into lower end mid range smartphone market to tackle the low end Samsung Galaxy series. With Lumia 620, which is priced just below 15K, the lower mid segment war was heated with the new entry in this range, the new Nokia Lumia 520, which is surprisingly priced at just 10K.
Just a short review on OS, this being my first encounter with a windows 8 phone, the user interface is brilliant and I must admit, after 3 days of use, I feel how much powerful windows mobile platform can be in coming years. Though it might not be much flexible as android is currently, but it has probably got the best UI around.
Coming back to 520, the key specs are
With the changeable back covers, it is a great way to feel new every time by getting yourself a new color shell. The poly carbonate build of Nokia Lumia has never been in doubt.
Comparing it with Lumia 620, Lumia 520 scores because of bigger screen, better looks being slimmer, price and the features which are parallel with Lumia 620. It misses a front camera, an LED flash, NFC to name a few.
Conclusion
With its Dual Core processor, screen resolution and size and added Nokia apps, with which windows App store is apt, the Lumia 520 packs an impressive punch for the money it is being sold for. Its vivid display is one of the best in the low-end market. Camera is great for outdoor clicking, and HD recording is impressive. Added lenses are great fun. The 520 packs many of the same specs as Lumia 620, and 720 and even 820 making it excellent value and a fantastic smart phone to consider on a budget. It is indeed, the best smart phone available under 11K and can be a game changer for Nokia in coming times.
Before starting the review, let me clear, this is a hands on review, as I couldn’t resist myself from buying this lovely phone and got this one for my wife last week. The phone does stand out and looks stunning in its range, and the other phones which it beats with its looks are Lumia 620, Samsung Galaxy Ace, Sony Xperia Tipo which looks ridiculous and feels like a Samsung Champ priced at 10K. The Looks does score 10/10 for Lumia 520, the removable poly-carbonate shells and vivid color range of yellow, cyan, red for the girls + white, black for the guys, this phone is the one to watch out for. With the screen size of 4 inches, and dimensions of 119.9 x 64 x 9.9 mm, it feels very comfortable to hold. Something that I always feel is any screen size below 4.5 inches, is indeed very comfortable to hold, it is once you enter the the phablet zone with 5 inch screens, the hands start to feel the discomfort.
