iPhone 5S

It is available in Slate, Gold, and Silver. It's made of high-grade aluminum, with chamfered edges. There is a ring around the home button too. iPhone 5S has a brand new system-on-a-chip called A7. This is a 64-bit chip which is the first ever on a smartphone.

The new A7 chip from Apple with 64-bit desktop architecture has 2x general purpose registers with over one billion transistors. The iOS 7 has been completely re-engineered for 64-bit and Apple's apps are also 64-bit. XCode also supports 64-bit, so developers should be able easily upgrade as well. On top of it, the iPhone 5S will still run older 32-bit apps.

iPhone 5S is over twice as fast in speed. There is a 40x CPU performance increase with 56x faster Graphics. It is 5x faster than the iPhone 5, Wow. It runs OpenGL|ES 3.0, like the new Nexus 7.

Along with the A7 chip, its got a new part, called the M7 "motion co-processor" works alongside the A7. M7 continuously measures the motion data, accelerometer, gyroscope and compass. It enables a new generation of health and fitness apps.

New CoreMotion API which identifies the user movements and the optimizations are based on the contextual awareness. It uses the A7, M7, and the GPS and it also uses Nike Fuel Points and is even integrated into Game Center.

The battery life, 10 hours of 3G talk time, 10 Hours LTE browsing and with Up to 250 hours of standby, it's better than the iPhone 5.

A new, five-element Apple-designed lens with an F2.2 aperture. The sensor has got 15 percent larger active area. The new flash has two LEDs. One is cool and white, the other is warm and amber combined to get the right color balance out of the flash. It captures HD video at 720p.

Touch Sensor

The touch sensor has got the Touch ID capacitive sensor. It is 170 microns thin senses 500 ppi  and scans sub-epidermal skin layers. The ring around the home button is just a "detection ring" which turns on the Touch ID sensor. The home button is sapphire so it won't get scratches. With this new sensor, you can simply touch your home button to unlock your phone. You can also scan your fingerprint to do stuff in apps, like authenticate iTunes for buying apps. It can handle multiple fingerprints too.

It uses capacitive touch to read your fingerprint. All fingerprints are encrypted, and secured inside a secure enclave. It's never available to other software. It's never uploaded to Apple's servers or backed up to iCloud. iOS 7 is 64-bit and supports Touch ID. Starts at 16GB for $199, 32GB is $299, 64GB is $399 on a 2 year contract. Cases are also available for iPhone 5S for $39 each.
